Compadres First Annual Country Christmas 2014

Everyone enjoyed a variety of activities in our Winter Wonderland!  Some were making holiday crafts and cookies, some were playing reindeer games on horseback, and others talked to Jolly Ol' Saint Rick!

August 2015  Katie Woods, 18,  1997-2015

Katie joined the Compadres family through the first teen group from Candlelighters in April 2013.  Partnered  with her special Paint mare, Remedy, she completed the teen group program and then chose to become a Compadres volunteer mentoring younger Candlelighters' youth. Throughout her time she gave to Compadres, Katie exhibited enthusiasm, optimism, kindness and compassion to participants and volunteers alike.  She always had a smile and an eagerness to participate at full throttle.  She loved her Remedy who was her protector, confidant and friend and who gave her the wings she lacked. Happy Trails to you, Katie, until we meet again.

"The Hands of Cantu: Horsemanship at the Pass of the North" hosted by Compadres Therapy Inc. in cooperation with Tom Lea Institute was a great success!

Good-Bye Rick!

Rick, the Compadres Site Coordinator, has worked in the Equine Activities and Therapies arena for 9 1/2 years. As a volunteer with Compadres for the last 5 years, Rick was instrumental in making all of the sessions run smoothly and making sure all volunteers were trained.  His ready smile and friendly personality made all newcomers feel at ease, whether participants or volunteers. We appreciate you Rick for all did and will miss you!
